LYRICS

My first memory was a music box
My parents gave to me
Inside there were three little tunes
To wind and set me free

Now I want to be a song
And fly off in a tone
Though it seems a little sad
To do it all alone

All those things I want to know
Are hiding in the harmony
But I only have one voice and a couple hours to myself
Before the grind begins

If only
There was a way
That everyday
I’d get to be
One song
One melody flying
The rest of the time
I’m fine with working

Harmonize my working days
And quarter note my shoes
Serenade the one I love
And cadence all my blues

How I want to be a song
And fly off in a tone
What will it take to get that
Written on my stone?

All those things I want to be
 All woven in the tapestry
But I only have one voice and a couple hours to myself
Before the grind begins

If only
There was a way
That everyday
I’d get to be
One song
One melody flying
The rest of the time
I might be working

If you heard me would you know
I’m just a lonely melody?
Would you come and join me?
Wouldn’t it be pretty?

If only
There was a way
That everyday
I’d get to be
One song
One melody flying
The rest of the time
